 Message from The President

Welcome to AMDA Nepal web page. Thank you very much for accessing us. I take this opportunity to share with you our commitment and dedication of our humanitarian efforts to the service of the needy people in the field of health and social welfare.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Founder President of AMDA International Dr. Shigeru Suganami and founder members of AMDA Nepal, particularly the Founder President Dr. Rameshwar Prasad Pokharel. Recently, during the anniversary ceremony, we have honoured Dr. Pokharel for his contribution. Past presidents Dr. Dinesh B Pokhrel, Dr. Shishir Kumar Regmi and the Acting Presidents of different tenures Dr. Sunu Dulal and Dr. Rohit K Pokharel have contributed a lot to uplift the organization to this level. Of course, all the members of AMDA Nepal have contributed in some capacities or the other. The partner agencies, donor agencies, the government offices have contributed and facilitated our activities. On behalf of the executive committee of AMDA Nepal, I express my sincere gratitude to all of them.

Whatever, we have achieved so far is due to the dedication of more than 500 staff working hard for the betterment of AMDA in spite of the compromise in their quality of life. Sustainability of their employment and career is a challenging responsibility of the organization.

Regarding the ongoing activities, you can get the information in other pages. We are overwhelmed with the trust of the people and the concerned authorities to our services and capacities.

Ø      AMDA International is encouraging us to establish medical college in Nepal and the country chapters of AMDA all over the world are ready to support for this endeavours in different ways. Of course, our medical college will not be a business enterprise but an academic institute with NGO spirit. In addition, enough attention will be given to the public health aspect of the program including the paramedical and public health courses.

Ø      Community hospitals in Dhulabari (Jhapa), Tandi (Chitwan), Kathmandu and Attariya (Kailali) are under consideration.

Ø      Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) programs will be expanded in collaboration with the concerned authorities.

Ø      Medical services for the geriatric and street children will be prioritized.

Ø      Community-based projects like literacy program in Jorpati will be strengthened.

Ø      Involvement in the international humanitarian activities will be explored.

However, we are very much cautious regarding the maintenance of the quality of services and activities, which I have realized as a great challenge for the future.

Thank you very much.

Dr. Ramesh P. Aacharya
