Siddhartha Children and Women Hospital (SCWH), Butwal Rupandehi

 

After completion of the construction works, Siddhartha Children & Women Hospital in Butwal (Town in Western Nepal) started functioning from 2nd November 1998. This is the first pediatric hospital outside the capital city. The hospital has very peculiarly integrated the general hospital services for women as well. Hospital is serving the community with 50 Beds.

Popular Japanese newspaper ‘Mainichi’ had taken the initiative to raise funds for the construction of this hospital. Famous Japanese Architect Mr. Ando Tadao had volunteered to design the hospital. The hospital is located near to the birthplace of Lord Buddha (Buddhist God). The hospital itself has been named after Buddha's childhood name, Siddhartha. 

 

Butwal Municipality, Butwal Chambers of Commerce and Industries and District Development Committee, Rupandehi have been mobilized to contribute for the maintenance phase of the hospital.
